as I wandered, weak and weary
down the road so dark and dreary
her beloved face, so bleak and leery,
her tears haunted me

I wandered on, through the town
the rain pouring, tumbling down
picturing her troubled frown
her tears haunting me

I wandered on, lost, alone
continuing on, through the unknown
it's my own fault I'm on my own
her tears haunting me

she smiles now, at another
she smiles now, the little mother
she smiles now, and I would rather
it was her smile haunting me
