Yesterday We Loved

Yesterday put a twinkle in my eye
truly made me want to fly
to all corners of the sky
but, Darling, I don’t know why.
Yesterday I dropped my head down to cry
till you came by, asked me why,
kissed my tear drops, made them dry
though you were just passing by.
Yesterday we held hands, talked,
wore our soles out as we walked,
cut a key … my heart was locked …
when you freed me well … it rocked.
Yesterday as strangers met.
Come to know you, no regret,
know the best has not come yet,
you give all and all you’ll get.
Yesterday we were still two—
struggling lost as folks do.
Finally fate made a pair
into one to love, to care.
Yesterday’s dream whispered, wove
a tapestry, a warm cove,
then etched names upon the sand …
united by God’s own hand …
yesterday.
