Surreptitious Existence

A cool mist blankets my cowering soul,
I have lost her,
Where I cannot tell,
My speech is choked by harsh acrid tears,
I long for her tenderness,
I am fearful,
I am weary,
I am alone.
The night is black now,
I am blind,
Sorrow consumes me,
In the void where I am imprisoned,
I am solitude,
I am darkness,
I am alone.
The youth in my veins is gone now,
I am old,
My mind is ancient and tormented,
For I search for ghosts that are new hidden,
I masochist,
I confusion,
I am alone.
Speak softly into my ears,
Whisper to me,
The darkness makes the sound unbearable,
In the cavernous desolation of my sequestered spirit.
I pain,
I slave,
I am alone.
My soul is bloodied and stained,
Please clean my wounds,
With the heaviness of my silent heart,
I call for you unanswered, unheard, yet understood.
I am silence,
I am weak,
I am alone.
There will be no last long good-bye,
My will is strong,
I will find you again,through years,silence,tears,or death,
I shall not fail,
I wind,
I dust,
I am alone.
When you wake from life's cruel slumber to see heaven's eternal light,
I will find you,
If you elude my grasp in life,
I will sit with you there forever,my friend,my lover,my darling,
I enigma,
I simplicity,
I am alone.
