Have you seen the beaches and the shore?
Tell me, dear chaika, what have you got to say?
Please speak louder over the sea's roar.

What do you see far over the horizon?
Are the captains piloting their ships?
Trust me, it's hatred that you must abandon:
There's a world out there filled with friendships.

My friend is lost, oh chaika, and I don't know
Where she could be. But she needs me there.
Go look for her, dear chaika, and don't say "no",
Through storm-tossed waves and seas, you'll know where.

She's scared and alone, and here I feel helpless.
But you just stand there, staring at me.
Can't you see I need help? I'm filled with sadness.
My soul's grown dark as the wind-churned sea.

The rain, oh chaika, hits my soul, eyes, and heart.
And how much longer must I suffer?
I'm dying, dear chaika, for that we're apart.
The storm just seems to make you tougher.

I can feel her crying, I can sense her pain.
Waves be damned, I must find my dear one.
Look, a break in the fog and the clouds and the rain.
I feel the world warming. Look, the sun!

Tell me, oh chaika, what have you seen today?
I'll find my love someday. Yes, it's true.
Stay here, dear chaika, please don't fly far away
Into the clouds and the sky so blue.
