and one candle is my love.
this candle burns just as bright
as the mid-day Summer sun.
And while everyone around her
can open to the light,
her heart is a fortress
and never falls in fight.
My noon never burns,
yet my sunsets always last.
As much as I feel need,
from her I will not fast.
Though she says shes not the one,
and this, I should know.
But she's the only one,
I desire unshadowed.
For all the flowers world,
she is the only bud
that I would want to sprout,
and cast upon my love.

But in a room with me and her,
and one candle is my heart.
I cast my light upon
the only tiny shard.
The shard of her that loves me,
that only burns at night.
when no one is around
to see her face in light.
Around all the others
she gives me not a chance.
Yet in the depth of night,
is when I hold her hand.
And though I hurt her deeply,
and for that, I bow my head.
If only she would read this poem,
and see that I am dead.
My wick will never burn,
my heart will never beat,
until I finally shine on you.
And give you all my heat.
I will rise upon your landscape,
and shine upon your face.
I'll warm deep down inside of you,
and share with you our faith.
I'll set on your horizon,
and give you nightly rest.
We'll lie together longly,
and take in all best.
Lit only by a candle,
this is who we are.
Our view will stretch deeply
into the heavens and the stars.
And though you do not love me,
and I with only you, I'm full.
That stays outside this room,
in light of one candle.

In a room full of people,
