As I watched all those faces
Into oblivion was the stare
Not one face took the dare

For so many years I have tried
Where once or twice I even cried
The very first I looked in your eyes
My heart my life would fill with sighs

With the wish for one day
And all those days I did pray
Now finally I get a chance
I really hope that we can dance

For even now I do know
It’s your kindness that is on show
You know very well I am no saint
And yes I know my chance is faint.

To make you happy every day
To show you love in every way
I now prepare for the time
For which I did write this rhyme

Once I thought trading places
As I watched all those faces
Into oblivion was the stare
Not one face took the dare

For so many years I have tried
Where once or twice I even cried
The very first I looked in your eyes
My heart my life would fill with sighs

With the wish for one day
And all those days I did pray
Now finally I get a chance
I really hope that we can dance

For even now I do know
It’s your kindness that is on show
You know very well I am no saint
And yes I know my chance is faint.

To make you happy every day
To show you love in every way
I now prepare for the time
For which I did write this rhyme
