Alone in the light I rest
silently not knowing what to say
or whom to say it to.

Alone in a powerful light,
but drowning in a fog of despair,
I am unable to overcome the pain.

Awakened from a deep nightmare,
with eyes wide open,
I speak of nothing, at first.

My words, they fail me.
I am lost.

In a recess
far beyond the landscape I've explored I find,
crouching in a crevice, a lame, worn, beaten man.

I shove the man and curse him to the ground.
Who are you? I exclaim,
but no answer escapes him.

I turn to leave
and find him again
crouching in a crevice.

I run to distance myself, but the faster I run
the more ominous he looms by me.

I turn and, in an instant,
looking deep into his eyes,
I know.

Who are you?
I exclaim,
but only a whisper do I hear.

Who are you?
I cry out,
but a faint echo I perceive.

Who am I? I sobbingly reply,
and then stop.
