My Endless Winter

The thermostat reads 100 while blizzard like winds strike my uncovered face,
The weather man exclaims, “It will be a beautiful day” while I slap his face inside my mind,
I pass babies in strollers while I carry the casket to their resting place,
My morning commute lasts days while my work takes minutes
My lunch break is brief while my appetite remains posted on “Missing” posters
If sex equals love then I have loved many with less passion than the loneliest virgin,
If brains equal success then the world is drowning in an ocean of life jackets,
I only hope I’m alive when we finally find “The Answer”
Because it will be following day when we find “The Rebuttal”
I laugh as doctors scramble like mice to find ‘The cure”
Because loneliness is not inside some medical journal
With only a few hours of daylight the night will last forever,
My eyes tell me they could sleep for days,
But I must arise early each morning,
To shovel the snow of my endless winter,
