By the water’s edge.
The stillness of the wings.
In the stillness of the wings
Before a great storm.
No sound
Animates this place by the water’s edge.
As if the world was on hold,
on pause.
Waiting to let its untamed breath
Out and coax the storm.

Watching the sky’s tears fall,
The cool hands caressing my cheek.
Rippling the glassy water.
Ripples intertwining together,
Like the lives of two young lovers.
Their lives starting small,
Then growing until they fade together.

Stillness is once more,
Only up most branches twitching.
The water now glass once more.
The sweet calmness,
Before a bitter storm.
