Slowly, but surely, we master our roles
Experts we become at covering the truth
Why, we can fool anyone with our honest lies

Always trying to please the whole world
I'm about to collapse, Nearing breakdown
Can't lead this lifestyle anymore
Won't take part in this wretched game any longer

Try your absolute best, and keep others at a distance
Never let them see what you really are
Don't let them destroy those pretty little walls
Those pretty little walls of isolation

Always trying to please the whole world
I'm about to collapse, Nearing breakdown
Can't lead this lifestyle anymore
Won't take part in this wretched game any longer

Longing for when everything was so very simple
Bittersweet tears threatening to overflow
It just sits there and mocks you 'till your happiness is gone
I'm losing my mind to the preposterous game

Always trying to please the whole world
I'm about to collapse, Nearing breakdown
Can't lead this lifestyle anymore
Won't take part in this wretched game any longer

So sick of this all or nothing philosophy
It just can't be the only path to follow
Yearning to dauntlessly try new things
Things that I know would never end up picture perfect

Always trying to please the whole world
I'm about to collapse, Nearing breakdown
Can't lead this lifestyle anymore
Won't take part in this wretched game any longer

It's never satisfied, so don't expect any praises
You'll live your whole life noting only imperfections
It has a great hold on you, it'll never retract its claws
Do you now realize that you've fallen vitim to its wicked web

Always trying to please the whole world
I'm about to collapse, Nearing breakdown
Can't lead this lifestyle anymore
Won't take part in this wretched game any longer

Have to take back what the game has stolen
Finally escaping its sickening grip
Starting all over with these broken pieces
Now I see clearly what's there for me

Now I'm gonna see the whole world
I won't go back, you can't break me down again
Leading a brand new lifestyle now
By taking part of something so wondrously grand [comments] => 0 [counter] => 151 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Avyna [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems ) Your Poetry Dot Com - The Game

Slowly, but surely, we master our roles
Experts we become at covering the truth
