You excuse it away as nothing
Dirt swept under the rug
I let go of a sigh
The phone rings
You turn your soul around
To make sure the cracks aren't showing
It's so sad the lies we tell
To get through a day
I wonder if you even know who you are
It's been so long since I saw you
Yet you're right in front of me
I love you, to the point of agony
But I have to love me to
And I can't save you
I must walk away
You're not going to understand
You'll resent me
Hopefully one day forgive
Maybe one day we can close this book
And laugh at these cracks
Instead of hide them

I ask you about the coming storm
You excuse it away as nothing
Dirt swept under the rug
I let go of a sigh
The phone rings
You turn your soul around
To make sure the cracks aren't showing
It's so sad the lies we tell
To get through a day
I wonder if you even know who you are
It's been so long since I saw you
Yet you're right in front of me
I love you, to the point of agony
But I have to love me to
And I can't save you
I must walk away
You're not going to understand
You'll resent me
Hopefully one day forgive
Maybe one day we can close this book

Instead of hide them
