The Moon...and You

Alone in my room, holding a conversation with the moon,
She doesn’t say much, just shines upon my face with her soothing touch,
I tell her all my deepest emotions; she just glows with endless devotion,
She is my closest friend; she’ll be with me until the end,
Though she doesn’t talk, she really enjoys our walks,
When I hurt, it’s like she turns away and the stars go to work,
She may only show half her face, but in my heart she will always stay,
She caresses my nights with a blanket of midnight blue, and fills my head with thoughts of you,
She watches over me, she warms me while I sleep,
I look to her for guidance, and she is happy to provide it,
She lights my way to your heart, she cries when we are apart,
When I wish, she releases a shooting star so obvious I can’t miss,
She holds me when you’re away, and keeps me safe until the dawning of a new day,
She stays afloat longer when you’re by my side, I think it’s because she wants us to have more time,
She gives us a goodnight kiss, she helps us reminisce,
As day breaks, away goes the moon, I swear I hear her say,” Goodnight kids, I’ll miss you.”
