Scatter My Ashes

Scatter the ashes, I need them no more
Left not but life, which I’ve come to abhor
All there is left, the earth’s left to claim
Cold embrace, of ground whence we came

What there was then, now not shall be
Dreams become ashes, now scattered at sea
Wind ferries awing to the ocean’s calm
It carries those hopes with empty aplomb

Need and want, nor worry no more
Only ashes are left of all I cared for
Who she was and what it meant to me
Sinks slowly to rest at the bottom of the sea

Perhaps one day, they will come back to land
My dreams become a castle built in the sand
Built with the innocence of children at play
Till again it is time to be washed away
