Bittersweetie

A feathered bridge to fly away
Withered here, a watched decay.
Candy sweet promises given
Bittersweetie, no one is forgiven.
Promises; take my hand, baby
Take you away, someday, maybe.
Empty always? Answer me.
Just another cause of agony.
Stray so slightly to look ahead
Revived me when once dead.
Thank you for words with teeth
Sinking into love, ever brief.
But depart, downhill you go
Take me not, nor follow slow.
Hoped for always, forever dear
Said I’d make you stay here.
Winds have changed direction,
Heart overthrown, an insurrection
Can’t let go, unbearable sorrow,
Run away with me tomorrow.
