Will We Ever Learn?

You used to be just furniture
Before I saw you for what you were
My missing half, forever mine
A savior who defied the signs
Beware of heart, utterly broken
Ears only heard what devil had spoken.
Angel, are your wings real, tell me
Or do I just want them to be
Just as I want you; to hold, to keep
Falling together into feverish sleep
Together to comfort, to withstand
Would fall upon sword if you command.
A sickness, a drug, an evil illusion
Surely responsible for lover’s confusion
The twisted pain for which I yearn,
Oh, will us lovers ever learn?
