Happy (Tentative) Anniversary

There was a time in my career
when I sold life insurance.
Some was Whole life, some was term
you had to have endurance.
Right off the bat I wish to say
that marriage follow suit,
Term to be renewed each year
or spousy to get the 'boot.'
Whole Life, you think, is more desired.
Who says that you're entitled.
Instead of wishy-washy love,
let passion be unbridled.
The kids you say, will suffer much
Divorce is not a picnic,
but that's the way it is today
so please don't try to nit-pick.
'To be or not to be' was written
by that English bard,
'Happy anniversary' is more
than words upon a card.
Be it term or any other,
buy it not is plain taboo,
so, be it term or any other
is strictly up to you.
