Hugging my chest,
Wrapping around my neck,
Its not tight enough to strangle me,
Yet not loose enough for me to escape.
It drags me places I don't wish to visit.
It forces me to finish tasks I don't have the will to do.
I may be looking one way but it will make me look the other,
But when this chain loosens on me,
I grasp it and pull it back quickly,
Because it is so warm,
Because it is so tender,

This warm, tender chain,
Hugging my chest,
Wrapping around my neck,
Its not tight enough to strangle me,
