DON'T ASK ME TO FORGET

Don’t ask me to forget, (my holocaust),
Don’t ask me to forget all that which we have lost,
Don’t ask me to forget the ships that carried us to sea,
Tearing us away from our mother land,
The place of our purpose and destiny,
Dumping our dead into the waters cold,
Throwing our history overboard,
Becoming fish food, before we were sold-
Our death is innumerable;
No numbers can count our cost,
The erasing of our ancestry is an irreplaceable lost-
Stripped of our dignity, left naked and abandon,
We were lost and without hope,
So we filled ourselves with intoxciation and dope-
Only by remembering that the blood of kings,
Flow through our veins,
Can we keep ourselves from going insane,
With the knowledge of our lost past,
We can now rightfully rejoice and sing:
Singing: Thank God Almighty; we are free at last,
Laying aside the wicked and evilness,
Which was inflicted upon our souls,
Being made once again complete and whole-
