Waiting

Waiting for the drop to drip
Begging for time to slip
In a puddle of mercy, please
Pass the days away with ease.
Years carved out of my shadow,
Forced against will to bend low
In a bow so faulty, so mistaken
So much time from me was taken.
But I don’t want it back now,
Neither youth nor aged brow,
All I want is my freedom; come,
With more time it will be done,
Over with, passed, tunneled through
A light at the end, something true.
It need not be heaven nor great
Just simply mine; a clean slate.
Waiting in agony my trouble,
Finish line farther, time double.
I ask you not to undo nor forgive
Just let it be time for me to live
Unburdened, unsaddled, dry from rain
Freed from the cycles of years’ old pain
That was never mine, born bearing
And I’ve wasted too much time wearing.
