Slumping, nervous, scratching, squirming under restraints;
Mumbling, licking, unable to use his mouth for it’s purpose.
Mindless, craving, desperate for drink and nicotine.

seeing things no one else could see.
Laughing, crying, feeling pains both physical and imagined.
No friends, no loved ones; all alone save for those trying to save
his pitiful, drunken, hallucinating life for the sheer challenge.

A straggly growth of beard;
slimy, yellow teeth, those that were.
Matted, graying hair, thin enough on top to show the scabs,
torpid, unfocused eyes, glazed over and red.
Slumping, nervous, scratching, squirming under restraints;
Mumbling, licking, unable to use his mouth for it’s purpose.
Mindless, craving, desperate for drink and nicotine.
Hearing things no one else could hear,
seeing things no one else could see.
Laughing, crying, feeling pains both physical and imagined.
No friends, no loved ones; all alone save for those trying to save
his pitiful, drunken, hallucinating life for the sheer challenge.
