Nowadays, leaving alone as I do,
knowing she’s not watching me,
I leave with the deepest sadness
that sets my mood for the entire day
and prevails until bedtime.

My last thought of the evening,
before I fall asleep,
is of a vacant kitchen window
and the absence of her face
peering into the morning, to deliver my last kiss.
Goodbye.

Of the many things I miss about her,
the one that comes most quickly to mind,
is the kiss she would blow to me
through the kitchen window,
as I left for work each morning.

Nowadays, leaving alone as I do,
knowing she’s not watching me,
I leave with the deepest sadness

My last thought of the evening,
before I fall asleep,
is of a vacant kitchen window
and the absence of her face
peering into the morning, to deliver my last kiss.
Goodbye.
