Across their moorland kingdom.
At the gate they come to a halt,
The sunlight playing gold and dapled
On steaming flanks and flowing manes,
With diamonds as big as the sky
Reflected in eyes of sure serenity.
In contrast, I am morified by my own inability
To shake off the shackles of every day
And take to the hoof in a chorus of thunder. If I could I would
Cross this dusty more where freedom is the new blood
Pumped around my frailty by a willing heart.
Once on the moor I would embrace their freedom
Until time has no freedom, but even then,
It would take more than towns and cities
And exploding populations
To deny me the blood of wild horse and freedom flowing,
And more than all the greed of ungrateful man
To still my willing heart. The horses are booming an echo this evening
