My fingers slipping as tears spilled on my cheek
The emptiness in my heart gaping like a chasm
As I felt our love was in a fateful goodbye spasm
The ebb and flow of life was stealing you away
Leaving me with a deserted heart to face another day
The future seemed bleak, all my hopes had been crushed
With the realisation that your love for me is a must
You're my essence and the reason I'm on this earth
To feel your love is to finally understand my worth
You appreciated all I am and all that I can be

I've been to a place of total misery
A place where somehow I lost you and sadly you lost me
