Breathing the scent of freshly mowed grass,
Hearing the drone of honey bees
And the soft lion purr of a cat in the long grass,
I thanked god for a day like today.
Hearing my name touch the lips of sultry spring trees,
The water lapping at the gravel shore
Of the lake's enchantment,
I thank god twice heartily for a day like today.
Seeing the bony heron walk on stilts
Across the altar of the blazing sun,
Now is the time to pause,
To take a moment and consider the sweet lullaby
Of the mountain stream,
And praise god thrice heartily for a day like today. Walking a widening, woven path,
Breathing the scent of freshly mowed grass,
Hearing the drone of honey bees
And the soft lion purr of a cat in the long grass,
I thanked god for a day like today.
Hearing my name touch the lips of sultry spring trees,
The water lapping at the gravel shore
Of the lake's enchantment,
I thank god twice heartily for a day like today.
Seeing the bony heron walk on stilts
Across the altar of the blazing sun,
Now is the time to pause,
To take a moment and consider the sweet lullaby
Of the mountain stream,
And praise god thrice heartily for a day like today.
