The leaves that tremble at dawn

Even when there is no moon upon the hills

No one had ever shown me

That the sky dazzles in a midnight blue

No one had ever shown me

How to clean myself off

When I was dirty of blood and had no more will

No one had ever shown me

That chains can be broken out of

No one had ever shown me

The fading twilight at a distance

Even when it all seems like only a mist of dark

No one had ever shown me

That I could be the afterglow that never has to dim

No one had ever shown me

How my body can still be whole

When it seems like my spirit has vanished

No one had ever shown me

That grass does grow thicker and greener

No one had ever shown me

The meanings of self worth

Even when life seems like a jail sentence

No one had ever shown me

That I can me my own bail

No one had ever shown me
