I remember my first love
Just like it was yesterday.
I was 10 years old and like me
She could play almost everyday.

She had a long and slender neck.
And boy could I make her sing.
But she never would ever fret,
And on her were diamond rings.

I always held her tightly.
And man did she have the curves!
I wrapped her around my fingers,
Together harmony was heard.

My guitar instructor told me
That my name would be up in lights.
If I kept my love tuned up just right
Every day and every night.

I guess he knew what he spoke of,
Because in long bygone days,
He taught many western stars
The tricks of how to play.

Like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers
And my love had belonged to Gene,
Before my very first true love
Became my beauty queen.

But boy did I cry that awful night
That I lost that precious jewel.
She was stolen at night by a burglar.
How could anyone be so cruel?

I will never forget how that made me feel.
Now I hold on even more tight,
To my love now who is quite real,
Who is my last love and delight.

She has a neck I love to kiss
And she also has the curves.
I'm wrapped around her fingers
And the harmony is still often heard.
