Temporary Relief

I have never been one to turn up my nose
When it's free.
When she is so eager,
Wet for adventure.
But it is going to have to wait
Until they all get their pound of flesh.
There is a litany of new conspirators,
Waiting to tear me down.
Some will ruin you financially,
And others will do it sexually.
There isn't enough penance
To replace the pain.
Pleasure came fleeting
And now it sits waiting to carve.
Taking its payment, blood money.
Only the salvation of a saline baptism
Resides with me now.
Pleasure came fleeting.
I wish it would come back.
Temporary relief is better than none.
