Amazing, Really

I try and try to tap into me-
there ain't no drill deep enough or hard enough
to pentrate the truth I glimpse, I see.
No bit of diamond carbonite
to scrape away the nights,
the sin and grins and falsity
that defines the essense of myself.
Amazing really, I am the only one
to let loose the inside-
the only one I don't have to hide from,
but I do-
I don't, don't know what else to do,
and never having learned
how to be true and noble to my greatest gift-
me. My soul.
My being...so sad
I never learned,
and fifty-one years in
the scab is just as firm.
