Love's Memories

As I sit here thinking what I should do,
My wandering thoughts keep returning to you.
Remembering the hours that we spent together,
Building up memories to last us forever.

I think of the joy of just being with you,
The places we go and the things that we do.
The feelings I have hidden deep in my heart.
The way that I miss you when we are apart.

With thoughts of the future and what it might hold.
While building a friendship more precious than gold.
I wonder as I sit here thinking of you,
Do you often sit there and think of me too?

This life is so short and uncertain I know.
There are so many roads down which we must go.
Now when I think back to places I've been,
With all the beauty that my eyes have seen.

Once more I am tempted to reach out my hand,
To touch you and tell you that I understand.
I know that your past has been stormy and rough,
That surely in this life you've suffered enough.

I thank you for letting me be a small part,
Of treasures and memories you store in your heart.
Now if in the future more time we should share,
I want you to know that I really do care.
