The flags wave with pride.
Dividing a society in imaginary lines.
War over lands that holds no claim.
Nationalism a slaves cause.
Voting the illusion of choice.

People at the forefront, fighting for their own rights.
Ignoring the cries of their neighbors, drowned out by the sounds of progress.
Walls torn down to be recycled for higher fences.
Days of community now whispers of socialist utopias.
Believing that we are not equal lies on the lips of those who oppose.

Slaughter of those we deem less intelligent, to feed our overweight minds.
Gold platted chains dragging behind debts of lead.
Hoping to one day get the chance to stand on the hill.
Political roles turned to daytime soaps.
Nothing of value to taste.
Puppets pretending they matter, as the machine still runs on oil.

With all revolutions, change did not come in the form of a collective ballot.
They knew then that to conquer is to separate.
To let another give them power.
We are the strength that drives this world.
Is your hands full of soil or blood?
Do you draw lines in the sand?
Claiming that this land is your own.

Does your cause involve everyone, have you thought past your own backyard.
Or has history taught us that we are nothing without someone telling us what to do.

It is not the lines or walls, or opinions that create such a riff.
It is our own heart.
Our own choices we make towards another.
And not the choices we make for ourselves.
Listen to the words of your oppressors.
Vote not for the lesser of two evils, when both hold no value of truth.
Be human, be a society of many.
Not a representative of one.
