A respite from all the tears she weeps
A time of peace and pleasant dreams...

The only one she gets it seems
For waking hours are filled with pain
The memories and words remain
That he had once in anger spoken
And left her poor heart badly broken

Close your eyes, forget the past
You knew that it would never last
Its just your luck, from bad to worse
Beneath this crazy lovers curse
The wounds that cause your heart to bleed
Inflicted by this endless need
To have someone to call your own
Oh God, if you had only known

She sees a vision in her head
Upon her pillow tears are shed
She wakes, she thinks, again she cries
Another piece of her heart dies
She sees the pills and takes them all
No more will she take such a fall
This time her slumber is for keeps
Forever silently she sleeps.

Silently now, at last she sleeps
A respite from all the tears she weeps
A time of peace and pleasant dreams...

The only one she gets it seems
For waking hours are filled with pain
The memories and words remain
That he had once in anger spoken
And left her poor heart badly broken

Close your eyes, forget the past
You knew that it would never last
Its just your luck, from bad to worse
Beneath this crazy lovers curse
The wounds that cause your heart to bleed
Inflicted by this endless need
To have someone to call your own
Oh God, if you had only known

She sees a vision in her head
Upon her pillow tears are shed
She wakes, she thinks, again she cries
Another piece of her heart dies
She sees the pills and takes them all
No more will she take such a fall
This time her slumber is for keeps
Forever silently she sleeps.
