How it’s taken me so long.
With teachings and songs.
That life/'/s prosperity,
Does not come from hand outs and charity.
But rather from hard work, and discipline!
But let’s first define discipline and prosperity:
Meaning different things to you and me.
For one it/'/s wealth;
And another it/'/s health.
Some prefer peace;
Others a new life’s lease.
You might want joy and happiness;
Your sister just wants to escape sadness.
For one fleeting moment,
Not fearing an omen.
Some love the laughter of children;
Your neighbour wants just to be a pilgrim.
Is all of this not prosperity,
For one and all in society?
Where then is the miracle;
We ask who are always cynical?
We think going on our knees,
Is all we have to do to please.
That some higher being;
Visible or unseen
Will wave his wand,
And give us all we want.
That I fear, is not the case -
If you want to finish life’s race!
But rather search within;
Deep, deep under your skin,
To the depths of your soul.
Beyond the emotions that control;
And look at the teachings with your head,
Apply them with logic instead.
So the miracle lies in discipline -
To avoid wrong ways and things of sin.
To take all you have learned;
To avoid being burnt,
In life and hell.
Truly you don’t need a spell:
Yes we must be charitable.
For prosperity is inevitable!
When the charity is knowledge,
That removes poverty’s blockage:
Just use your head -
Then you will achieve all you want before you go to bed!
