It’s the night before Christmas
I sit here and drink some hot tea
I await the sound of reindeer
but the sound still doesn’t invade me

The children made some cookies
to set them by the tree
They also poured a glass of milk
two treats for Santa to see

The children sound asleep now
with big smiles as they dream this night
They dream of Santa
and so many presents at first light

Finally I hear a voice off yonder
and some bells ringing loud
There was a noise on the roof
and suddenly Santa stood before me so proud

I hid behind a curtain
hoping Santa would not see me
He took presents from his bag
and laid them all around the Christmas tree

Just before he left
I saw a twinkle in his eye
He ate the cookies and drank the milk
then very softly said to me goodbye

I thought he didn’t see me
but Santa does surely know
He rose up the chimney so fast
into the storm they flew as Rudolf’s nose did glow

So now it’s time to get rest
as Christmas morning will soon be here
I wish you all a Merry Christmas
one that is full of love and cheer
