Dark Monster

I/'/ve spent my life chasing shadows,
So that they don/'/t chase me.
Whenever I look in the mirror,
I will not believe what I can see.
Flooding my ears with music
To drown the voices in my head.
I am afraid of the evil monster
Hiding inside me; not under my bed.
I/'/m tearing myself apart from within;
Trying to fight against the odds.
What makes it even harder is,
Knowing that I/'/m better than I was.
Watching sunset flames consumed,
By the quickly growing darkness.
Reminds me how things change;
And shows me how I/'/m helpless.
I don/'/t want to hurt you anymore!
Nothing means more to me than you!
You are last bit of light in my life!
But my darkness will kill this, it/'/s true!
