Raging like angered bear when the trap is sprung
You can choose your friends, the adage always goes
But the veneer always serves its purpose to deceive
Pick a fruit from those on display, on the outside all the same
Until revealed the choice is bad, rotten to the core
My eyes are bleached to the obvious, I stumble into the same mistakes
Tripping over the warnings of the past
There is little to salvage after the wrecking ball has bludgeoned faith
But I will dig my self respect from the ashes
And hope that a new tomorrow offers up a better prize [comments] => 3 [counter] => 194 [topic] => 32 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry ) Your Poetry Dot Com - A New Tomorrow

Lifes rulebook is never clear, its loose framweork does not guide
And so old patterns form like footsteps in wet sand
We tread familiar paths because they are there, well worn
Following blindly into the same old snares
Raging like angered bear when the trap is sprung
You can choose your friends, the adage always goes
But the veneer always serves its purpose to deceive
Pick a fruit from those on display, on the outside all the same
Until revealed the choice is bad, rotten to the core
My eyes are bleached to the obvious, I stumble into the same mistakes
Tripping over the warnings of the past
There is little to salvage after the wrecking ball has bludgeoned faith
But I will dig my self respect from the ashes
And hope that a new tomorrow offers up a better prize
