30 years is just a blink; but we threw in the kitchen sink
In looking back you may recall, what came and went for one and all.

Phones had cords and stayed in doors, the princess phone was in!
Outdoors we phoned inside a booth, and no one listened in.
They had no cameras, couldn’t text, and weren’t small and thin.
Shaped like Garfield, Mickey Mouse or Harley Davidson.

No internet for Donkey Kong, we met at game arcades.
Super Mario was king, plus Pac-man, Pong were played!
Camcorders and fax machines were soon to come to be.
And Christmas put a cabbage patch doll underneath each tree.

We watched Dukes of Hazard, and millions of us stopped;
Tuning in to Dallas to see how JR was shot.

We tried to solve the Rubic’s Cube; Atari was brand new.
MASH aired its final episode -- goodby to Hot Lips too!

Sixty eight grand bought a house; Seven grand a car.
We lived on nineteen grand a year, and talk TV was star.

Star Trek premiered its first show, and we were soon to see;
A brand new hostess on the air, her name? Oprah Winfrey.

ABBA, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Police, and Queen;
Along with Eric Clapton all made our music scene.

Apple hit the stock exchange under three bucks a share;
Two thousand seven hundred each is where shares went from there.

Yuppies replaced Hippies; the Berlin Wall came down;
And Health and Fitness clubs were blooming everywhere in town!

Sally Ride went into space; Diana wed the Prince;
Thriller aired on MTV, and its been famous since.

Ted Turner launches CNN to broadcast 24;
Exon Valdez dumped all her oil on Alaska’s shore.

If youre in your fifties you recall some of this rhyme;
Although Im glad for what we have, I blew this one BIG time:

If I had bought 100 shares of Apple in the day;
That same amount would only buy me seven shares today!
