I know I am just a child,
I’ve not spent long in this world
but here’s my take on
hugs and kissing,
except from mom and dad, permitting…

I can tolerate
your denture smile
and lazy wink,
but let’s forgo
the pillow hugs,
cause grandma?
—you stink.

your lesser half
also pongs,
his rancid breath
all kind of wrongs;
and grabby hands
a little gross
to those parts
I keep real close.

apparently, I ‘owe a kiss’
to relatives I’d rather miss
I’d tell you all, go spin on this
but to some of you, that would be bliss...

cheesy breath and bad cologne,
body smells that empty homes;
moth-balled clothes, poorly aired
when will the munchkins just be spared?

the media is quite ablaze
with allegations freshly raised,
of sleazy moguls and their way
—now the small folk have their say!

finally, a child’s right
to not be forced to ‘squeeze real tight!’
or lifted up on to a lap,
that feels like dough
and smells like crap.

keep your beer and stogie stench,
from your grasp I’ll likely wrench
—I’ll take a handshake or a wave,
and smile back if you behave.

so if you think me aloof or shy,
stop and think:

you just might stink.
