Topic: Sad Poetry

Contributed By: gee

The stillness of the rushes
in the early morning light
awaits the kiss and caress
of the cool winds across the water

All life stands still
to the rising of the sun
save the ever-wary hungry fish
which breaks the glassy plane

Reflecting light on gleaming scales
launched high above the wash
catch a butterfly in flight
as he claims his meaty prize

Just as quick and out of sight
as dust devils between the dunes
the ripples in the water cede
once more, life carries on
