What I think or know
My heart will always shatter
Then be frozen and cold

Everything I think I want
I never do receive
My desires, they do haunt
And my heart they do deceive

I know that all men aren’t the same
So why do they give the same response?
It must be me that I blame
And my heart that I ensconce

It’s no longer safe
To love or be loved
For me, it does chafe
In harm’s way, I’m oft shoved

I’m tired of hoping continually
For me, it never pays off
It’s time to break it off cleanly
For at hope, I now scoff

I’ve reached the end of my wits
No longer will I search
On ice, my heart now sits
A cold, but safe little perch

It doesn’t seem to matter
What I think or know
My heart will always shatter
Then be frozen and cold

Everything I think I want
I never do receive
My desires, they do haunt
And my heart they do deceive

I know that all men aren’t the same
So why do they give the same response?
It must be me that I blame
And my heart that I ensconce

It’s no longer safe
To love or be loved
For me, it does chafe
In harm’s way, I’m oft shoved

I’m tired of hoping continually
For me, it never pays off
It’s time to break it off cleanly
For at hope, I now scoff

I’ve reached the end of my wits
No longer will I search
On ice, my heart now sits
A cold, but safe little perch
