The romantic dreamy portrait on the wall
Shows a young pretty lady breastfeeding her child,
Holding it with the most loving and gentle way of all;
Every thing looked so soft, peaceful, and mild.

Every one told me that this is true,
Motherhood is an experience you must try.
The lady in the picture can be you,
Or me or her, or any one willing to try.

Every one told me that motherhood is a love story
Between a tender woman and an adorable child.
But no one ever told me that this is just an allegory,
Because the real image is really wild, wild, wild!

They said that motherhood is a glorious grace;
It is in fact, the synonym of love and sweetness,
But why couldn’t any one tell me face to face
That it also means trouble, nerves, and noisiness?!

Why on earth couldn’t any one dare to say
That being a mother would turn my life up side down?!
That it will make me think of running away,
Leaving the house, and probably the entire town!

Why didn’t they let me see
The real picture of a mother at home?
A woman working as a bee;
A woman struggling and panting in a storm.

Screaming and going nuts all day
Is a blessing all mothers share.
Not finding a mother living in a messy way
Is definitely something rare.

Tousle hair, puffed eyes, sleepless nights,
Nursery and nutrition books, cookbooks, diet books on the rack
Are in a mother’s life as natural as daily fights
Between (adorable) kids who are about to make their mother crack.

Being a mother is not as romantic and sentimental as it seems.
It is reality with all its bitterness, sacrifices, rewards, and pleasures.
It is the precious exquisite joy of living to give and please
Your young, sweet, naughty, troublesome living treasures.

It is worthwhile to learn to live for others,
To learn to cope with your concerns, fears, and tears;
This is the genuine spirit of all caring mothers.
I finally learned this after being a mother for ten years.

(I am sure I will learn more in the future)
