I feel like these buildings are closing in on me,
When the smog lifts there should be a moment
of clarity. Welcome to the rat race for yet another
day where most appear odd and out of place.
The business people are decked out in a range
of suits, heading for their offices but not in
search of truth; they live in a world of great
pretense where the means always justifies the
ends.
It seems the dispossessed have swelled in a city
they thought knew quite well, broken promises
and shattered dreams and everything else in
between. My sense of decency is fading fast,
I am trying to remain human in the land of sharks.
I dedicate this poem to everyone who is faced
with the reality of living in a major metropolis.
