Sunny Day Blues

So, today it’s my turn to cry;
I see the sun laughing at my sorrow.
But people get hurt every day;
It will be someone else tomorrow.

I told the sun the one I love
Was a brighter star by miles;
Jealous in his insecure sky above,
His face is now wreathed in smiles.

I can feel the heat of his glare;
As if he’s saying: I told you so!
It was my vanity to compare,
And now in hot shame I go.
