The Shadow

Within myself the shadow grows,
And my humanity is thin and faded.
The shadow feeds on my misery,
And grows stronger, stronger, unabated.

It claws and shrieks in primal rage,
And demands for me to set it free.
To gain revenge upon the world,
And without mercy, crush it thoroughly.

Most nights are spent in agony,
In dreams of death and blood,
I kill, and kill, and kill again,
And revel in the crimson flood.

For everyone that's caused me pain,
A white-hot rage burns in my head,
With vision clouded, mind aflame,
I slaughter them in their beds.

Their screams and pleas for mercy,
Have fallen on deaf ears.
As I wreck vengeance on their bodies,
And prey upon their fears.

I called out to those around me,
For help to escape this fate,
But no one came or heard my calls,
And now it's far too late.

Through the black and swirling ash,
I see my hands are stained with red,
And now I know why no one came,
Because everyone is dead!!

I fight these thoughts, and barely win,
To keep them from breaking free,
Deep within my heart the shadow grows,
And destroys my sanity.
