Strong
If only you could look deep inside to see,
the haunting memories inside of me.
Twisting and churning the pain never goes,
never ceasing, it only ever grows.
To the back of my mind I place this pain,
deep inside my vault, hoping not to feel it again.
I looked for help, but you returned more fears,
scarring, cutting, I would shed more tears.
Oh how your abuse was like the tide,
coming back for more, filling you with pride.
With each crushing word more of my blood was spilt,
I ask you now, do you ever feel guilt?
Will you ever truly understand,
the sorrow you placed in my heart with your hand?
But of all the memories my heart has kept,
and of all the times that I have wept.
I forgive, I love, and dwell with you no longer,
for your hate for me only made me stronger.
