CAN'T PROMISE

I can't promise you roses
with blooms of brilliant red
but I will always be there
with my loving arms instead

I can't promise you perfection
for perfection I am not
for I am much like the rose
thorns and all I've got

CHORUS
I can’t promise you the earth,
I can’t promise you the stars
But I do promise to love you,
no matter where you are
I may not look the best,
I will never be above the rest
But once you have given us a try,
Believe me, we will soar above the sky…

I can't promise you wealth
with money to shower away
But I can give you my love
to share throughout each day

I can't promise you the stars
for they are out of my reach
but I can show you romantic walks
holding hands along the beach

CHORUS
I can’t promise you the earth,
I can’t promise you the stars
But I do promise to love you,
no matter where you are
I may not look the best,
I will never be above the rest
But once you have given us a try,
Believe me, we will soar above the sky…

I can't promise total happiness
and never a tear in your eye
though I can give you my word
that in every way I will try

I can't promise eternal life
for this is not mine to give
but I can love and support you
everyday in which we live

CHORUS
I can’t promise you the earth,
I can’t promise you the stars
But I do promise to love you,
no matter where you are
I may not look the best,
I will never be above the rest
But once you have given us a try,
Believe me, we will soar above the sky…

I can’t promise you the earth,
I can’t promise you the stars
But I do promise to love you,
no matter where you are
I can’t promise you the earth,
I can’t promise you the stars
But I do promise to love you,
no matter where you are
(fading out)
