To rid what is hurting inside my chest,
Hopefully my love will keep me strong,
Keeping me where I truly belong.

I have taken the very first step,
For once my actions I don’t regret,
As I have chosen the right path to go,
This one is one that I wish to follow.

I will try so very, very hard,
To clean out my cluttered back yard,
There are things that I must now face,
Things that are too powerful to erase.

My strength has been buried under doubt,
Trapped & not been able to get out,
But I will not be defeated,
By an illness that’s conceited.

It will be difficult as I face my past,
Hopefully my recovery will be fast,
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared,
My demons are of that which needs to be shared.

Letting go of my past will be a hard task,
Please be patient that’s all I ask,
& love me, please don’t ever leave,
My pain will be just like when you grieve.

I am letting my ghosts finally die,
As they leave me I’m sure I will cry,
These are things I have carried for years,
Although hurt, I am used to living with my fears.

To let them go won’t be very easy,
But no longer will they be able to hurt me,
I will at last be free to love & to live,
To you my darling I have so much to give.

In the past I have caused you great pain,
You almost buckled under the strain,
To love someone who has depression,
Must be a very hard & impossible lesson.

I will make up for it all that I promise,
I seal this pact with a loving kiss,
Please stay by my side, help me through,
As I couldn’t have gotten this far without you.
