Do you ever notice how I act around you?
How I light up when you're near?
No because you're too busy looking at that other girl
I'm always the friend

When you come to me with your problems
Do you ever see how I smile?
Of course not you're always thinking about her

I know you've heard people say I like you
Do you just think it's a joke?
Or are you just looking at her?
I'm always the friend

I care for you more than any of those other girls could
Why don’t you just open your eyes when you look at me?
Stop being so blind
I could make you so happy
Just give me a try, that’s all I want
I love being the friend
But I want to be the girl!

I'm always the friend
Never the girl
Do you ever notice how I act around you?
How I light up when you're near?
No because you're too busy looking at that other girl
