Mourning the Dream

Oh my love where have you gone
One day you are here and the next gone by dawn
My heart aches and longs for your return
Please tell me what I did wrong so I can learn

I am tortured with pain, agony and loss
You were everything I wanted, I swear on the cross
Visions of my dream dance in my head
My heart leaping like a ballerina dancing around overhead

My dream had finally come true
I would give anything to still be with you
But so fickle and elusive this entity of love
Isn't it ordained by the One above

How can I accept this paiin to bear
The loss of the keeper of my love so rare
I hurt so badly; I don't know where to start
This person has truly broken my heart

Perhaps you need to survey, if you would
The type of relationship you have withstood
Maybe it is the broken dream that you mourn as such
As the relationship itself may not have amounted to much

Now you are being put to the test
But in reality the dream weighs heavy on your chest
The fact remains the lost dream was never there
So mourn for being treated badly, of which you are aware
