You Cut So Good

I close my eyes, pretending not to hear
The painful words you said last year.
I replay the images in my head,
But more so, I hear the words that were said.

I fight back the tears and whisper, 'Not tonight'.
I grab my wrist, and hold on tight.
My teeth are clenched, and drops of salt water run down my cheeks.
The pain I heald is dripping down my arm, I feel so weak.

I collapse on the bathroom floor.
And suddenly there's a knock on the door.
I wonder what I was thinking as I slipped away from this world.

With hair so thickly curled,
And eyes so blue,
She had to have one thought so true.

My soul slips away and I see myself lying there, stiff less.
If only, for this once, I wasn't so restless.
I didn't know doing it only once could be so addictive.
Why did I have to be so vindictive?

I close my eyes, pretending not to hear
The painful words you said last year.
