I took a trip once for my true love in life
And to help those in need at a terrible time
He scared me with suicide letters he dared
So i drove to Manhattan with my love and care

.*.

The view on the trip was a beautiful sight
I never seen leaves red, green, brown, yellow bright
The colors that splashed on the highway's dark side
Were then covered with darkness and cold rainy nights

.*.

When i arrived there were cold busy streets
And a wall full of beautiful painted graffiti
I tried to look deep in it's colors so bold
And feel the deep pain of the pictures unfold

.*.

I then saw a woman on cold wet concrete
She was laying alone with her pants to her knees
She knew i was there as she slowed down her breath
So i got her some help , she'd almost reached her death

.*.

I saw an old lady with no shoes to wear
I took mine off for her to show her i care
I gave my shoes off my feet for hers so bare
And my soul it sang melodies while i was there

.*.

I walked a bit farther to find Central Park
Where i knew i'd be sitting outside in the dark
I sat at the place i told him that i'd be
I watched all the people walk right on past me

.*.

The rich offered money for new shoes to wear
And the homeless they gave me their food to share
Most everyone says that New Yorker's are mean
But they showed me some kindness that i've never seen...

.*.

The spiritual feelings that came over me
Will forever stay deep in in my heart that bleeds
I waited for true love to show me his face
And he walked right upon me with beauty and grace

.*.

I sat there and i knew he had his own pride
I stood up and looked at him right in the eyes
The depth of my love made him run from my sight
He chose our true love's destiny that very night
